Managing Director – David Shearwood

David was appointed as Managing Director of the Company on 27 May 2015.

Bachelor of Engineering (Mining Hons) degree from the University of Sydney (1984), Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Australian Securities Institute (2000), the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) Diploma with order of merit (2000) and a Professional Diploma of Human Resources from the Australian Human Resource Institute (2006).

Mr Shearwood has 29 years’ experience as a fund manager, strategist and investment banker at firms including Macquarie Bank, Westpac, QBE Insurance, Atom Funds Management, Du Pont and Rio Tinto. He founded Atom and developed a captive Australian equities research firm in Bangalore, India, to support the business in Australia which concentrated on small company investments. Mr Shearwood has travelled the world investigating mining, energy and infrastructure opportunities.

Mr Shearwood has extensive experience as a director, spanning for-profit listed, unlisted and foreign companies, as well as not-for-profit companies. He has been a member of the (AICD) education committee.

Mr Shearwood was one of the earliest fund managers in Australia to invest in the ISG industry. He has achieved top quartile performance as a fund manager and analyst across various sectors during his career with an emphasis on mining, energy and infrastructure.

Mr Shearwood is a founding director and major shareholder of Allied Resource Partners Pty Ltd (ARP) and indirectly a major shareholder in Leigh Creek Energy.

 

 


 

 

Executive Chair – Daniel Justyn Peters 

Justyn was appointed as non-executive director of the Company on 28 November 2014 and then Executive Chair of the Company on 27 May 2015.

BLaw, BA (politics/jurisprudence) GDLP, ISG experienced (six years senior executive Linc Energy),

Government (State and Federal, including Director, Queensland Environmental Protection Authority - EPA), 14 years working with senior entities in China. 

Mr Peters was employed at the Queensland EPA as head of Investigation and Compliance and then acting Director of Central and Northern Regions. He managed the integration of the environmental regulation of the Qld Mining Industry into the EPA. As a result of this work he was employed as Environmental Advisor to the Queensland Mining Council. Mr Peters has also lead Airservices Australia (Cth) Environment Monitoring Group, before becoming National Environment and Property Manager.  

Mr Peters joined Linc Energy Limited soon after its IPO. At the time Linc Energy (the world leader in ISG) had only a few employees and a Market Cap of AUD$30m and grew to over 600 employees and a Market Cap of AUD$2b. In his 6 years at Linc Energy Mr Peters held the positions of General Manager Environment and Government Relations, General Manager Business Development, Executive General Manager Nth Asia and finished as Executive General Manager of Investor Relations. He led teams on international JV’s, acquisitions and acquisition of Australian entities. His experience across a broad range of business units within Linc Energy will prove invaluable in developing the Leigh Creek Energy Project. 

Mr Peters is a director and shareholder of Allied Resource Partners Pty Ltd (ARP) which is a substantial shareholder of Leigh Creek Energy.

 

 


 

 

Non-Executive Independent Director - Gregory English

Greg was appointed a non-executive director of Leigh Creek Energy on 22 September 2015.

Greg is an experienced mining engineer and lawyer with over 25 years of involvement in the resources industry. As a mining engineer he has worked on underground and open pit coal mines, including working as a mining engineer at the Leigh Creek Coalfield where he lived in the Leigh Creek town. As a lawyer Greg has acted for numerous oil and gas companies and advised on numerous gas marketing, gas transportation and similar transactions.

Greg’s experience in the coal industry, and in particular his knowledge of the Leigh Creek Coalfield, and experience and contacts in the oil and gas industry will complement the skills of the board. Greg is a current and past non-executive director and chairman of several listed and unlisted exploration companies.
