Leigh Creek Energy plant equipment to be leased for African Syngas project
Leigh Creek Energy (LCK) will lease its Pre-Commercial Demonstration plant and equipment following a commitment from an South African Syngas company.
LCK has signed a Heads of Agreement (HoA) with Africary for use of the plant currently operating at the former Leigh Creek coal field site for its own Theunissen in-situ gasification (ISG) project in South Africa.
Africary is a multifaceted resource and technology company and owns several energy related interests in Sothern Africa.
The agreement comes after China Communications Construction Company Ltd (CCCC) committed to providing LCK with a draft HoA to provide opportunities for investing and developing other infrastructure projects in South Australia, beyond in-situ gasification.
“To announce another HoA so quickly after the HoA with China Communications Construction Company Ltd indicates the level of international interest in the Leigh Creek Energy Project,” LCK Managing Director Phil Staveley said.
“Furthermore, the level of due diligence undertaken by these two corporations indicates their level of confidence in LCK demonstrating successful syngas flow in the near future.”
